Overview:

This is foundational level course in Mandarin Chinese (Putonghua), designed for students who have had no prior exposure to Chinese language, especially designed for those language seekers who can not attend 5 days a week on-campus classes or much busy in their jobs or comitted with other tasks hardly find time to get face-face classes opportunity. The purpose of this course is to lay foundation for further study of Chinese and equip them with some basic skills in listening, speaking, reading and writing. This course will start from the most basic elements of Chinese pronunciation system called pinyin, the four tones, initials and finals which constitute its phonetics system. Upon finishing this level students will be able to grasp some basic vocabulary to participate in daily conversation like introducing themselves, talking about their family, and gaining and providing important information regarding nationality, time, weather, job etc.


Eligibility:

SSC or Equivalent
